All the raw materials arriving at our plant for processing go through our quality control laboratory to evaluate the length, fineness, the percentage of grease, the rate of recovery and in the case of the color white the amount of black or colored hairs is assessed. For the combed fiber, besides the tests cited above, button counts and plant impurities are also accounted for. All the data is collected in a certificate of analysis including the results of all testing giving the characteristics of the processed lot. In the testing process the following apparatus is used: ALMETER AL100 to determine the length of the fiber or of the combed OFDA to determine the fineness CSIRO for the count of black and colored hairs LAVAGNA to count the buttons TOP TESTER to count plant impurities STUFA DI CONDIZIONATURA to determine the recovery rate OIL EXTRACTOR to determine the grease percentage The laboratory also performs tests for third parties testing not only cashmere but also other fine natural fibers such as camelhair, alpaca, yak, wool etc. with rapid results given in about 24 to 48 hours.
